Know something Harvard would prefer we didn’t?

Administration  ·  SPANSH 11  ·  February 2026
Students in a Harvard Spanish class were assigned to evaluate shirts calling for the elimination of the State of Israel as a sustainability case study. Harvard determined no further action was warranted.
On February 6, 2026, students in SPANSH 11 were directed to evaluate Joe Hawkins Bogotá, a Colombian clothing brand, as a sustainable design case study. The brand’s catalogue included multiple shirts bearing “From the River to the Sea” and “Palestina Libre.” The assignment was presented without comment. Several Jewish students complained. President Garber responded within six hours. Two deans were made aware. The Committee to Decide Whether This Rises to the Level of a Thing convened. It did not rise to the level of a thing.
